If you are planning to study at university after your English course, a pre-sessional/pre-masters course may be the right choice for you. This programme offers you the perfect opportunity to focus on developing your English skills in a friendly and supportive environment.

You will have the opportunity to:

• Study between 4-20 weeks of English (subject to your requirements)
• Study for 24 hours per week
• Study in small groups - usually 6-8 in a class, maximum 12.
• Focus on academic English to prepare you for further study at university
• Develop academic skills that will be invaluable to your study
• Participate in regular social events

This programme focuses on academic English including:

• How to write and research for an extended essay
• Presentation skills / Pronunciation
• Listening and note-taking
• Grammar and vocabulary development.

HOW WILL YOU BE ASSESSED?

You will be tested on writing, reading, speaking and listening skills and will receive a score for each component as well as an overall score.

WHO IS IT FOR?

The pre-sessional English courses are for students who are about to begin undergraduate or taught postgraduate degree study. The course is designed to help you to get the most from your studies at Alpha Omega College The pre-sessional course will help you to:

• develop your academic English so that you are better able to cope with university-level study
• develop your study skills and understand what is expected of you as a student in the UK higher education system.
