COURSE DETAILS

STUDENT PROFILE

This course is designed for people looking to improve their ICT skills and gain an accredited qualification. There are no formal entry requirements.

COURSE OUTLINE

The course is divided into modules as follows:

Compulsory Units

• Unit 1 - General Computing
• Unit 2 - Internet
• Unit 3 - Introducing Spreadsheets
• Unit 4 - Basic Word Processing

Optional Units

• Unit 1 - Adobe Graphics

DURATION

This course can be completed through a long distance course. Study for the ICT programmes can take from as little as one month, although a period of 3 to 12 months is more usual

STUDY PACK

As this is a distance learning course, you will receive a study pack containing all of your study materials. You will not be required to make any further purchases from the centre, although you will still need to attend an examination and pay the appropriate fee

ASSESSMENT

Assessment at level 1 of the ICT programme is through:

Online tasks: These require you to demonstrate the IT skills that you develop though the online tutorials. At Level 1, an online marking engine will assess your achievements.

30 minute external assessment: When you have completed the exercises, two online tests will be administered by your tutor.

E-Portfolio:: As you work through the programme, you will gather evidence of your IT skills from your daily life, to complete the E-Portfolio.

ACCREDITATION

The Foundation in ICT is accredited as a Level 1 qualification by the regulatory authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Holders of the Foundation may progress on to level 2 qualifications and beyond. This course is externally moderated

SUPPORT

Support comes from the teachers in the centre. Support will be given from the teachers for the period the student is enrolled, all our teachers are very helpful and will help a student deal with any enquiry they might have.
