STUDENT PROFILE

This programme is designed for people who wish to gain an understanding of the principles and practice of Child Psychology, and the development of children. It is ideally suited to people working with or planning to work with children, or anyone interested in the development of children. No prior knowledge is required.

• 9 The Nature/Nurture Debate in the Study of Intelligence
• 10 Data Collection and Interpretation

Module Two - The Child as an Individual

• 1 How Children Think
• 2 Learning Theory – How Behaviour is Acquired
• 3 Freud’s Psychodynamic Theory – An Alternative Approach
• 4 Moral Development
• 5 The Development of Gender Roles
• 6 Aggression in Children
• 7 Methods Used in Child Development Research
• 8 Play
• 9 Learning in School
• 10 Behaviour Modification

DURATION

Students may study over any timescale of up to one year. To complete the course will take in the region of 90 hours of study.

ASSESSMENT

This course is assessed through a series of tutor marked assignments. No attendance at an exams centre is required.

ACCREDITATION

This course is validated by OCNNWR and provides 6 credits. These can be accumulated with other course or unit credits over a period of time which can lead to an accredited qualification.

The course is provided by Study House which is a recognised centre for courses validated by OCNNWR.

OCNNWR provides validated courses through its provider organisations which must meet robust quality assurance standards. It is a licensed member of NOCN which is an approved awarding body licensed by QCA to offer accredited qualifications.

SUPPORT

Support comes from the teachers in the centre. Support will be given from the teachers for the period the student is enrolled, all our teachers are very helpful and will help a student deal with any enquiry they might have.
